You download community scripts from the public Workshop, or you write your own scripts. If you need to fix a “quality of life” issue, you can still start looking into mods and scripts. It is recommended for new players to learn the base game (so called “vanilla”) first. Simpler scripts could possibly be replaced by Event Controllers and Automata. Scripts are harder to set up and to keep up-to-date than mods, though. Similar to how Mods add Blocks, Scripts add automatic interactions to the game: Auto-updating LCD text and images, vector thrust, subgrid steering, automatic production, or automatic inventory sorting. Space Engineers allows players to automate interactions through (unofficial) Scripts.

A Programmable Block is required in game to run scripts.
